Bike camera FAQ's
Q: What bullet camera system do you recommend for my bike?
A: This is very much going to depend on your budget and the kind of video quality you are looking to achieve. The MiniDVR1 and DV500 kits are our most popular for bikers. Both have very similar video quality but the DV500 has more features such as 16gb card support and a wired remote controller. The DV500 can also be hard wired to your bike with the optional hard wiring kit.
Q: How do i view my video?
A: You can play back your video on the built-in screens of these recorders. You can also plug them direct to your TV or VCR. You will get a USB cable which will allow you to play or edit your videos on a PC or MAC.
Q: Where should I mount my camera/recorder?
A: Again, depends on the type of shot you want to make. It's good to get a variety of shots with your camera. Head mounting is always fun and on playback you will see in your video exactly where you were looking at the time of filming. We also like the "Rossi" shot from the back of the bike pointing forwards and you can also get some great video from the fairing showing the suspension travel.
Q: Can I film my mates?
A: Why not? We do it all the time here. Have a rear facing camera and fit a larger lens to any of our cameras and go out for a play.
Q: Can I record audio with these kits?
A: Yes, you will get one of our new mics with gain control. So no matter how loud your bike is you should be able to adjust your microphone to get the best sound possible from your bullet cameras. It's always a good idea to keep the mic out of the way of wind as this can often give poor sound quality at high speed.
Q: Can I connect these systems to my intercom?
A: If your intercom has an audio output (most do but check with your manufacturers) then yes you can. This will give you excellent audio results. We have tested our bullet camera digital recorders with the StarCom digital product and it works great. We can even supply a cable for you to connect to this system.
Q: How tough is the system?
A: Our bullet cameras are extremely tough and we test them to destruction. Probably the worst thing that can happen if you fall off is that the cable will snap. If this happens then let us know, we can repair these for a small fee.
Q: How do I mount my camera?
A: We have loads of camera mounts available. The most popular being the three sucker mount which is included in the packages above. You can use this suction mount to stick your camera to any shiny surface. Check out our other camera mounts below...we're bound to have something that will do the job for you.
Q: Are they easy to use?
A: Couldn't be easier...especially the MiniDVR1. Simply connect the camera and the mic, turn on and press one button to start recording!
Q: Which bullet camera is the best?
A: The Sony HQ1 bullet camera will give you the best results but the Pro 520 is still a great camera. Our Sony HQ1 camera is used extensively by the BBC and also by the creators of the GhostRider videos!
