This is a quick demonstration video of the Lawmate PV500 Evolution digital video recorder with the high definition button camera, the Lawmate BU13 . The BU13 is the only high definition covert camera on the market. It has the ability to record at 720p or 1280 x 960 at 25fps. The .ASF files can be edited in windows movie maker easily or exported to just about any other NLE.
The Lawmate PV500 Evo DVR has a touch screen interface, it is also supplied with a wired remote control to start, stop recording without having to have access the DVR unit. The Lawmate PV500 recorder has full time, date and individual frame number stamping. It can be fully password protected and it creates LOG files of every single action made by the user.
The BU13 button camera uses mini HDMI connections and is the world’s only high definition digital hidden button camera on the market. It comes with various button lens covers and screw type heads so it can be hidden and disguised in a variety of situations.

It looks as though the PV500 EVO and BU13 didn’t last – as it is now showing as ‘discontinued’ after just 6 months on sale. With the BU18 only being non-HD, this is only being sold with the PV500 ECO, so there appears to be a rather large gap in the market for covert cameras.
What does DCS recommend?
Hi Raymond, The PV500 EVO and BU18 have been on the market for over 2 years and have become the staple products within the surveillance industry. Although the BU18 is an analogue button camera and non-HD, it does offer better low light performance than the BU13 HD button camera. Upgraded versions by LawMate will be available early next year to replace these products.
