POV.1.5 Camera system.

This is the high end VIO POV.1.5 from VIO. An update on their already very successful two piece helmet camera kit. In terms of video quality and build quality this unit is at the top of its game. Widely used in various sports from skiing, snowboarding to the most demanding motorsports.

The POV.1.5 is one of the easiest to use helmet cameras available.

It has now been upgraded to officially support up to an 8gb SDHC card providing just over 6 hours of footage at full quality. It comes with a slightly smaller camera head with a fixed cable using a military style connector for the recorder part.

A new star mount is included as is a double hook and loop mount which pretty much covers your mounting requirements for most helmet camera purposes. Six Neodymium iridium powerful magnets are supplied for use with the star mount. These could be used to fix the star mount to your shoulder or a baseball cap for instance.

All parts of the system are waterproof including the wireless remote controller and in-line microphone. The VIO POV camera head is waterproof to about 3m of water and the recorder part can go down to 1m. All parts can be submerged for a short time as long as the battery cover and IO port covers remain in place.

POV.1.5 is supplied with a 4gb SDHC card and batteries so you can start using it right out of the box.
We supply an extra 8gb card free of charge!

The wireless remote allows you to start/stop recording and can also be used to "tag" your videos making it easy to find your video when playing back on a PC. (software for MAC is not supported) The POV.1.5 also has a neat pre-record feature. Simply press the "tag" button on the remote when in loop mode and it will capture the video you were shooting up to 10mins after it happened.

You can connect the POV1.5 directly to your TV for playback or plug the recorder in to your PC and download the video for easy editing
(software is supplied).

The menu on the unit is still very user friendly and allows you to change the input sound levels, the picture quality and all other settings.

POV Power kit

You can use the POV power kit to externally power the POV.1 and POV.1.5 digital video recorder. This replaces the battery cover and also provides a 1/4" mounting thread so you can use a clamp or suction mount to secure the POV.

Supplied with a cig lighter adapter and bare wires for direct connection.

POV LVDS Extension Cable

An extension cable for the POV.1 and POV.1.5 camera systems.
Available in 1.5 meters or 3.5 meters.

The maximum length of cable that can be used with the POV camera system is 6.5 meters in total.

POV.1 and POV.1.5 Billet Ring

The POV.1.5 is no longer supplied with a 1/4" mounting thread so we have designed our own! This one is much stronger than the tripod mount supplied in the POV Mount kit (available separately).

This two piece aluminum ring clamps tight around the body of either POV.1 or POV.1.5 cameras and provides the all important tripod mounting thread so you can use any of the clamp of suction mounts on this site.

We know we all lose things, especially the little parts. This is the mounting kit for the POV.1 Head camera system.

Use this with the POV.1.5 to provide a standard 1/4" mounting thread for use with all standard camera suction and clamp mount.

The new POV.1.5 anodized camera head is already supplied in the kit above. You can purchase this as a spare or to use with your existing POV.1 camera system. The cable is hard wired at the camera end making it less likely for you to bend the connection pins. This new camera head is also a bit smaller and lighter than the original POV1 camera head. Gives 110 degrees wide angle view.

This is the part that covers the IO port on the bottom of the POV.1.5

It's important to have this in place to keep the system waterproof. Do not pull on the screw to remove this cover, use your finger nails or a knife to lever this cover off.

The remote controller for the POV.1 which has a range of around 5m. It works on radio waves so you don't need to have line of sight with the recorder for it to work. If your mate is using the same system then you can easily change channels (1-10)

POV.1.5 FAQ's

Q: What's the difference between the POV.1 and the new POV.1.5?
A: The POV.1.5 now supports up to 8gb SDHC cards. The camera head is slightly smaller and orange in colour.
A new "star" mount and a double hook and loop mount is provided in the package. The cable is hard-wired to the camera head.

Q: Can I use the 5m lvds cable with the pov.1.5?
A: No, but now you can purchase a POV extension cable and have up to 6.5m of cable from the camera part to the recorder part.

Q: How do I mount the camera to my car/bike?
A: We recommend using a clamp mount or a suction mount. You will need to purchase the extra billet ring to do this.

Q: Can I externally power the POV.1.5?
A: Yes! A new POV Power kit is available so you can power the system from a 12v supply or cigarette lighter socket.
