methods to power your bullet camera

Powering your helmet camera kit.

Dogcam helmet cams are powered by a 12v supply. If you purchase an OPTION 2 package (essentials kit) of any DogCam bullet camera kit or viosport kit then you will receive an 8 x AA battery holder which looks like this. Batteries are not included.

You can use the drop down menu box which is situated above the "add to basket" buttons to purchase rechargeable batteries for this holder. You can also use normal AA batteries such as duracells or energisers. However, this can be an expensive way to power your helmet cam so we suggest investing in rechargeables and a battery charger.

If you are in a car or on a bike then you might wish to power your helmet camera from the vehicle's 12v supply. You can do this if you use a power regulator which ensures the voltage doesn't go above 12v when the engine is running. We have two different types of regulator. The car cig.lighter plug is fused and easy to use. The in-line power regulator requires wiring and should be used with a fuse.

If you're out and about then you might not want to carry around 8 x AA batteries and a suitable charger (most chargers will only charge 4 x AA batteries at a time) The other option is to use a rechargeble power pack. We have 3 types of power pack. The Ni-Mh power pack is ideal for snow users as it isn't affected by the cold weather quite as much as li-ion battery is. This pack contains a UK mains charger and excellent portabilty.

If you are using a camcorder to do your recording from a bullet camera then this is a really nice and tidy solution from viosport. This li-ion battery has a 1/4" 20unc screw which attaches to the underneath of your camcorder via the tripod fitting. This keeps your power supply and recorder together and safe. It comes with a UK mains charger and the battery has a power indicator to tell you when you're about to run our of power. Works with viosport and dogcam bullet cameras.
