Sony Helmet Camera

The Facts There are many "bullet cameras" available on the market at the moment so make sure you buy a quality product. Sony do not make helmet cams, they make the CCD chips used in certain bullet cameras. Remember, there's much more to a camera than just it's CCD chip. CCD chips are just one of the many componants involved in a bullet camera. Other things to take in to consideration are the lens, circuit board componants, the software built-in to the camera to control the way it reacts to changing light conditions. Of course, the build quality should be high up on anyone's list too. |

If you don't want to buy a new camcorder or you want something a little smaller then you can use a hard disk based recorder such as the archos 404. These devices that record on to a hard disk or solid state memory card will compress the video and you will lose video quality. We reckon the archos records at about 65% quality of a camcorder. This looks fine for playback on the internet or on it's own screen but when you view the image on a TV you will notice an amount of pixelation. Purchase archos 404 equipment. Helmet cameras with memory cards built-in, also known as wireless helmet cams. We now sell these. If you're looking for an inexpensive option with the least amount of hassle and video quality isn't paramount to you then check out the ATC-2000 helmet camera by oregon scientific. |

Hard disk based video recorders are a great way to store footage from your helmet camera. These devices like the archos have a built-in hard disk that records the video from the bullet camera. Hard disk recorders need to be padded, they do not like to be vibrated too much. Our latest hard disk video recorder for the consumer market is the PVR500r 20gb recorder. It can record at full 720x576 resolution and the video quality is about 80% of that of a camcorder. These devices will store about 10 hours of footage at full quality.
