INSTRUCTIONS
DogCam and DogCam Pro Cameras

PREPARATION

It's always best to connect everything together and get it packed away before you go out.
Remember that once the batteries are connected, the camera and mic will be powered up and won't turn off until the battery is disconnected again.
Disconnect the battery when not in use. Do this by unplugging the dc plug or removing a battery rather than pulling the clip off the battery/holder.
IMPORTANT: The 12v battery holder when loaded has enough current to start a FIRE if the terminals are shorted. It can be quite easy to short the terminals when the battery clip is off. Please take CAUTION!

SETUP

Put the battery clip on and plug it into the mic. Plug the mic power out dc plug in to the DogCam power in. The two RCA sockets left over are video out from the camera and audio out from the mic.

CONNECTING BULLET CAMERA TO A RECORDER OR MONITOR

If connecting directly to a VCR or Monitor or TV then you will need an a/v rca cable.
Plug the dogcam rca into a YELLOW composite video input.
Plug the mic rca into a RED or WHITE audio input.
When connecting to a Camcorder. All camcorder models do this a bit differently so it is always best to check in your user manual. Look for a section called something like "Dubbing from a VCR" or "Recording from an external source"
The usual method is: Use the A/V cable that was supplied with your camcorder (for connecting to tv or VCR) yellow plug into the dogcam, red or white into the mic.
Put your camcorder into VCR mode. With any luck you should have a picture on the LCD from the DogCamera. If not then you will need to enable the a/v input on one of the menus. Consult your manual.
Once you have done this you might find you get feedback from the mic. If so, turn the sound on the camcorder down to zero.
Initiating record is again different on each model camcorder. It's not always the case that you use the traditional rec/pause camcorder button.

TIPS
  • Plan your shots and position the camera carefully using the camcorder LCD as a preview monitor.
  • Make sure ALL your equipment is secure before subjecting it to high speeds. The suction mounts are tested upto 180mph (so far!) but make sure they are firmly sucked down before leaving. Putting the suction cups over sticker joins makes them less effective.
  • Secure the cable so it doesn't flap in the wind. Try and take away the strain from where the cable enters the camera.
  • Always make that final check to see if the tape is running.
  • Although the cameras are waterproof, filming in the rain you will suffer from water droplets on the lens which will distort and unfocus the image.
  • If you're out in the dirt, mud or at speed on the road check and clean the lens of the camera as often as possible. You don't want to do a 60 min session to find on playback that you hit a fly on the lens 5 minutes in.
